What is cosplay?

Cosplay is a kind of amateur theater, with a much greater degree of improvisation and contact between the actors. In the case of cosplay, there may be no audience at all: the actors themselves get the fun out of what they do. Moreover, cosplay can even be done alone, dressed up in the costume of your favorite character and getting into his image.

The word "cosplay" is a shortened version of the phrase "costumed play," that is, "costume play. There is even a verb cosplay - to act out some fancy book, story or even song in costume! For example, Star Wars props are popular for recreating an appropriate character.

Cosplay is a kind of "theater" of characters from anime, manga, Japanese video games, as well as historical Japanese costumes (kimono, samurai armor, etc.).

The point of cosplay is to conform as much as possible to your character, the desire to "summon" him on stage from a TV screen or a manga sheet and present him to everyone as if he really exists. Cosplay in Japan, as well as in many Western countries, has developed in close connection with the community of science fiction and fantasy fans.

General Entourage

The location of the cosplay should match the character. Or use a background of normal walls, etc., that doesn't draw attention. If you're doing battles, you may want to use this tutorial on how to create wounds.

Cosplay Photographer

A photographer, if the cosplay is to be shot. Even with an ordinary digital camera, you can get good shots if the photographer himself is interested in it. He has an important task - to find good angles, to play with the light, to reveal your image even more and to bring it to others.

And most importantly - do everything with pleasure!

Have fun cosplaying!
